PBL 3 Tie 14: North Eastern Warriors pulled off first victory

Ajay Jayaram’s North Eastern Warriors registered their first victory in the Premier Badminton League season 3 against Bengaluru Blasters at Chennai’s opening leg at the Nehru Indoor Stadium on Friday.

 

Besides winning Trump match, Warriors pulled off Blasters’ trump and won the tie with first three matches with 3-0 and later conceded with 3-2. With this, Warriors marked their first win after losing three matches previously this season.

 

Canadian shuttler, Michelle Li produced an mesmerizing comeback after losing in the first game against Kirsty Gilmour and won the Trump with 7-15 15-14 15-13.

 

Ranking 21 in the world badminton, Li with impressive drops got better off her rival Gilmour, who was buried with errors in the crucial moments in the third game.

 

Earlier, Bengaluru Blasters got off to a winning start when their doubles team of Boe Mathias and Kim Sa Rang beat Kim Gi Jung and Shin Baek Chol 15-12 7-15 15-12.

 

Ajay playing the second game, took away rival’s Trump knocking Malaysian shuttler Chong Wei Feng with an easy 15-8, 15-13.

 

Winning the match against World No. 15 Vincent, Chong Wei Feng was invested with the Trump match on Friday against North Eastern Warriors.Feng could not continue his winning stride as he lost to the Indian in straight games 15-8 15-13.

 

Chong Wei Feng couldn't cope with Jayaram's impressive defense and impeccable net play and committed a series of unforced errors on his forehand to give away the first game 15-8 in a fairly easy manner.
