Sikki Reddy & Ashwini Ponnappa made a sensational start to the semifinals day action at the IDBI Federal Life Insurance Hyderabad Open 2019. Playing on Court #1 Sikki & Ashwini made a terrific start to the match as they opened up a healthy lead into the opening exchanges.
And having established the early lead, they pressed home the advantage to take the opening game 21-12. The second game followed a similar pattern, as Sikki & Ashwini kept the points short, played a high & aggressive line to run their opponents ragged.
Fan Ka Yan/Wu Yi Ting briefly flickered at the fag end of the second game, but Sikki/Ashwini snuffed out any chances of a comeback and closed out the match with a identical score line in the second game.
Sikki/Ashwini will now take on Baek Ha Na/Jung Kyung Eun in the title cash, as the South Koreans took down Arakne Araki/Riko Imai in their semifinal match up 21-10 21-9.
Sourabh Verma will feature in the men’s singles finals after notching up an impressive 23-21 21-16 win over Iskandar Zulkarnain of Malaysia. He will now face Loh Kean Yew of Singapore who came from behind to beat South Korean Heo Kwang Lee 16-21 21-10 25-23.
In the women’s singles final the top two seeds will face off against each other as Yeo Jia Min won a difficult tie against Phittayaporn Chaiwan 21-11 15-21 21-18 while number 2 seed An Se Young beat Porntip Buranaprasertsuk 21-14 21-13.
The men’s doubles finals will feature Muhammad Shohibul Fikri & Bagas Maulana of Indonesia will take on the South Korean pair Na Sung Seung & Wang Chan.
