Sikki Reddy has been named in the list of 300-Most Influential People, put together by Award-winning entrepreneur & British journalist Kiran Rai. The list compiled in collaboration with his business partner Ralph Pereira includes some of the most well-known faces in Asia, including – sportspersons, television stars, DJs, Bollywood stars, Michelin star chefs, and others.

In an illustrious company, Sikki used the occasion to remind her legion of fans that their support means a lot to her, and the other sportspersons.

“Do come and support sports, because the support we get from fans and people is most important to continue with the sports at the highest levels!” said Sikki.

“I am very honoured to be on 300 most influential list 2020,” added Sikki in her social media post commemorating the achievement.

Speaking to Kiran Rai, she also lauded the facilities and security provided to sports personnel in India, generally and badminton players specifically. Looking back at her journey, Sikki spoke about how she began training at a government-owned facility before coming under the tutelage of All England Champion and the current Chief Coach of the Indian Badminton Team, Pullela Gopichand.

Sikki highlighted the support and encouragement from her parents as the key to her growth and continuance in the sport.

“Both my parents were interested in sport. I started off as any normal child at a Summer Camp, when the coach spotted me and told my parents to pursue the sport further because he felt I had the talent to go a long way,” recalled Sikki

Currently training at the SAI-Gopichand Academy in Hyderabad, Sikki recounted her time during the lockdown, which to begin was a lot of fun but as the weeks and months passed by, she began to grow restless and a little frustrated.

“We actually met the State Sports Minister, and requested him that sports should be one of the most important priorities as life opens up post covid_19 lockdown, at least for the Olympic probables,” says Sikki about her efforts to get sports & badminton back on track following the forced lockdown due to Corona Virus pandemic.

Sikki’s ardent legion of supports, and there are plenty of those, especially on social media will be delighted with the news. Kiran Rai & Ralph Pereira have been featured in around 956 newspapers and 89 magazines in their long careers, and have a formidable reach and influence.
