Official Theme Song Launched for Team India at Tokyo Olympics

Just 30 Days to go for the Olympics and commemorating the Olympics Day on June 23rd, the Indian Olympics Association launched the official theme song for Team India at the upcoming Tokyo Games. The launch was at a glittering ceremony organized at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, in New Delhi and attended by Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Shri Kiren Rijiju and IOA President Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra.

 

The song has been composed by well-known Bollywood composer & singer Mohit Chauhan while the lyrics of the same have been put together by his wife Ms. Prarthna Gahilote. The song was officially unveiled by the Minister in the presence of the IOA President and other dignitaries, including – IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta, Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Sports Shri Ravi Mittal, Sports Authority of India Director General Shri Sandip Pradhan, and Deputy Chef De Mission of the Indian contingent Dr Prem Chand Verma.

 

At the unveiling of the song the sports minister called upon the nation to cheer and support all the participants at the quadrennial games. 

 

“The high energy song composed and sung by Mohit Chauhan encapsulates the spirit of every athlete's dream to bring glory for the country at the highest podium. 

 

“The Sports Ministry has launched a nation-wide #Cheer4India campaign through various activities like quizzes, selfie points, debates and discussions on Olympics. I urge every Indian to come forward and join in this movement to cheer for India's top athletes as they put their best to bring glory to India,” Shri Rijiju added.

 

IOA President Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra said that the song is a collective voice of 1.4 billion Indians and urged the athletes to give their best. 

 

Secretary General Rajiv Metha took the opportunity to thank the sponsors of the Indian team - Edelweiss Group, MPL Sports Foundations, who are the principal sponsors, while Raymond, Nippon Paints, JSW and Amul will be the associate sponsors, and Inox Group will be the Entertainment partner.  

 

Also, Shri Metha announced that all the Indian team members will be provided with wearable meditation devices to help them focus, keep their minds fit, and avoid distraction during the period of isolation at the Olympic village. The devices will be provided as part of a partnership between the IOA and Chief Coach of the Indian Badminton Team Shri Pullela Gopichand’s Dhyana Sports Foundation.
