Former World no.1 Korean Shuttler Jung Jae Sung, the winner of two All England Open passed away due to cardiac arrest, leaving the entire badminton fraternity disbelief with his untimely demise.
The 35-year-old won one Olympic bronze, and two bronze at the Asian Games. His first big break came when he and Lee Jae Jin beat the reigning Olympic silver then gold medallists as they won two straight national titles in 2003 and 2004.
Datuk Lee Chong Wei said, “This is sad news. I offer my condolences to his wife and two children and I pray that the family will stay strong.”
Jae retired from the international badminton after winning bronze at the 2012 Olympics in men’s doubles partnering with Lee Yong Dae.
While, Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal, Parupalli Kashyap, and Ajay Jayaram tweeted condolences to the former champion.
