We are all aware of the new service rule introduced by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Malaysian national men’s double shuttler Goh V Shem slammed the new rule.

He sounded disapproving and expressed his dissent despite of winning the first round in the Malaysia Open on Tuesday.

In the opening round of the series held at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil, the power duo V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong impressed us with a score of 21-15, 21-10 to win over Thailand's doubles couple Tinn Isriyanet and Kittisak Namdash.

But several service foul were called on the Malaysian team from the service judge, which made it unhealthy for the Malaysians to perform well.

"She didn't foul me too many times, only around eight to nine times," said V Shem sarcastically.

"We have trained so hard for this new service, and yet we are being fouled. Maybe the fault is not with us but the judge.” He added.

He also continued being critical towards this issue by stating that Denmark's (Mads Pieler) Kolding is probably one of the tallest shuttlers at two meters tall. “Don't you think he'd foul every time he serves? Maybe he should cut himself in half?”

He said he was upset because it makes them look like beginners.

"I have been playing badminton for over 20 years, and to be called out so many times by an amateur is ridiculous," he told.

Talking of the new service rule, after the BWF council meeting in Bangkok last month it has been decided that the shuttlecock has to be below the height of 1.15m at the point of contact with the racquet.

Talking at the same platform, Wee Kiong said that the one day break between first and second round was something very new to him.

He said that it’s the first time for him in his career and he will use this time to recover from the first round.

The silver winning duo at Rio 2016, will play against the winner of Wednesday's first round match between China’s third seeds Liu Cheng-Zhang Nan and Russia's Vladimir Ivanov-Ivan Sozonov next.

Meanwhile, two other Malaysian men's doubles pairs— Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi and Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik — also did well to reach the second round.

While Yew Sin-Ee Yi  won over over second seeds Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen of Denmark with a score of 21-17, 18-21, 21-13, Aaron-Wooi Yik slided into the next by defeated American siblings Phillip-Ryan Chew by 21-16, 21-15.

The second half of first round matches will resume on Wednesday.
