Korean Open SS: Sindhu, Sameer, Satwik and Chirag into Quarter Finals

Victor Korea Open Super Series 2017 took a great start at Seoul this Monday and the Indian shuttlers are flying high with their amazing plays.

 

P. V. Sindhu defeated Nitchaon Jindapol of Thailand by 22-20, 21-17 in 41- minute encounter in women’s singles category, making her entry into quarter finals. Out of 80 rallies, Sindhu won 43 rallies including the most of 6 consecutive points and 6 game points. World No. 16 Nichaon was made to move around the court with the opponent’s high smashes. 


Sindhu will play against World No. 19 Minatsu Mitani of Japan in the quarter finals.

 

In the men’s singles, Sameer Verma beat Wong Wing Ki Vincent of Hong Kong in the straight games 21-19, 21-13 in 42 minutes contest. Saving the game by four game points, Sameer Verma advanced into quarter finals to play against World No.1 Son Wan Ho of Korea.

 

In men’s doubles, Satwik Sai Raj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty passed Lee Jhe-Huei and Lee Yang of Taipei by 23-21, 16-21, 21-8 in 52 minutes match. In the mixed doubles Satwik Sai Raj Rankireddy ended his campaign with Ashwini Ponnappa in the round one losing to Tang Chun Man and Tse Ting Suet of Hong Kong by 21-18, 21-19.

 

Earlier today, Parupalli Kashyap lost to world no. 1 Son Wan ho by 21-16, 17-21, 21-6 in 76-minute encounter while B Sai Praneeth lost to Tzu Wei Wang of Taipei by 21-13, 26-24 in 39 minutes.
