Saina back to 10th in the latest BWF world rankings, Sindhu, Srikanth, Prannoy falls

The London Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal jumps back to World No. 10 spot in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) world rankings from 12th position and holds 55520 points, while Sindhu slips to 4th position in the updated rankings.


Saina gained points after reaching to the finals at the recently concluded Indonesia Masters 2018. The former world no. 1 has reached quarter-finals at the ongoing India Open 2018 to face Beiwen Zhang of USA.


Meanwhile, Rio Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu falls one spot down to settle at 4th position with 77,226 points.


Former national champion Rituparna Das drops 8 spots down at 62nd place, Tata Open champion Ruthvika Shivani Gadde remains static at 79th.


Other women’s singles shuttlers in top 100 are Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli at 66th, Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka at 82nd, Tanvi Lad at 93rd, Saili Rane at 94th, and Sai Uttejitha Rao at 96th.


HS Prannoy, who had to make an early exit at the ongoing India Open 2018 in the round one, went down in the world rankings to the 11th spot with 53285 points. Having been minorly injured at PBL, Prannoy developed corns on his feet due to improper treatment and couldn’t do his best at the tournament. While, Kidambi Srikanth went down and settled at 5th position.


Sai Praneeth and Sameer Verma fall down to 18th and 41st position respectively, and Ajay Jayaram remains at 44th position. Commonwealth Games champion Parupalli Kashyap went three spots up to 53th position.


Other men’s singles shuttlers Sourabh Verma, Subhankar Dey settled at 60th and 64th position respectively.


In the men’s doubles Satwiksairaj Rankireddi and Chirag Shetty plunged five spots up to settle at 27th position, while Satwik pairing with Ashwini Ponnappa at 74th position in the mixed doubles. Another mixed doubles pair, N Sikki Reddy and Pranaav Jerry Chopra went down to 24th position.


Women’s doubles pair Ashwini Ponnappa and N Sikki Reddy slipped seven spots down to 31st position in the updated BWF rankings.
