US Open 2018: Ajay Jayaram Storms into Semi-Finals

Unseeded Ajay Jayaram enters the Semi-Finals at the US Open Super 300 tournament after defeating South Korea’s Heo Kwang Hee in a comfortable straight-game win with 21-18, 21-12 on Friday.

Unlike in previous round, Ajay cruised to the pinnacle point to secure berth in the Semi-Finals against the sixth seed Mark Caljouw of Nederlands.

After exchanging few points and catching eachother at 4-4, Ajay scored six straight points to lead with 10-4. Before winning another four consecutive points with a favour of 14-9, the Indian let his opponent to gain few points and eventually sealed the game.

In the second game, Heo improved with his stride to reduce the deficit by the half time with a trailing 9-11. Heo was able to score another couple of points before giving away the game to the Indian ace shuttler.

The tournament will be the big comeback win for Ajay who has been in shadows since his Hamstring injury for quite a time now.

If Ajay surpasses Mark, he will play against either Lee Dong Keun of Korea or the fourth seed Khosit Phetpradab of Indonesia on Sunday.
