Singapore Open'18 Day 1 : Pranaav and Sikki Progress to Next Round

India’s no. 1 Mixed Doubles duo Pranaav Jerry Chopra and N Sikki Reddy defeated Jones Ralfy Jansen and Carla Nelte of Germany with 21-19, 16-21, 21-12 in 47 minutes at the Singapore Open 2018.

 

The first game was a neck-to-neck encounter for the players till 5-5, before Germans took the lead in the game by interval with 11-8. Jones and Carla maintained the lead till 17-15, before Pranaav and Sikki scored three straight points to their advantage with 19-18. The Germans scored another point before Indians sealed the game.

 

After switching the sides, Pranaav and Sikki led the game with 2-1, but couldn’t hold on to it. Jones and Carla rebounded with consecutive 5 points to lead with 6-2 and ended the game with 21-16 pushing the match to the decider.

 

In the final game, Pranaav and Sikki managed to lead by the half-time with 11-9 and went down the wire to secure the berth in the next round.

 

The duo will face Chang Tak Ching and Ng Wing Yung of Hong Kong in the next round. After making an early exit in the recently-concluded Malaysia Open and Indonesia Open, Pranaav and Sikki made it to next round at the tournament.
