Russian Open 2018 LIVE: Indians Secure Finals Berth

Eighth seed Sourabh Verma enters finals after defeating his compatriot Mithun Manjunath with 21-9, 21-15 at the Russian Open 2018 on Saturday, in Russia.

With the most of 5 consecutive points in the first game, Sameer easily sealed it followed by facing small hiccups in the second game. It took 31 minutes for Verma to close the match.

While, the strapping pair and the second seeds Rohan Kapoor and Kuhoo Garg struggled to get past the Malaysian duo Chen Tang Jie and Yen Wei Peck.

Chen and Yen dragged the match to the decider, which was a close game. Kuhoo and Rohan after the dominant show till 13-11, allowed themselves to par with the opponents who gave the equal fight till 20-20. The Indians destined to nail the match and they did.

Meanwhile in the Men’s Doubles category, Arun George and Sanyam Shukla lost to the local pair Konstantin Abramov and Alexandr Zinchenko with 15-21, 19-21 in just 32 minutes.

In the finals, Sameer and Kuhoo-Rohan will face Koki Watanabe and Vladimir Ivanov-Min Kyung Kim on Sunday.
