BWF World Championships'18 LIVE: Saina Saw Off 4th Ranked Ratchanok

 World No. 11 Saina creates upset after defeating Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand with 21-16, 21-19 in the round 3 at the BWF World Championships on Thursday in Nanjing, China.

 

With this, Saina marked the record of winning 10 meetings with Ratchanok out of 14. Also, the Indian becomes the first woman to have reached the quarter-finals at the World Championships for the 8th time.

 


While trailing in the opening game with 5-8, Saina saved 6 points straight to lead with 11-10 and never looked back. In the second game, the Indians maintained the gap and was with an advantage of 18-13, from where Ratchanok rebounded to reduce the deficit with 18-19 before levelling the score with 19-19.

 

In another Women’s Singles match, Nozomi Okuhara outclasses Goh Jin Wei of Malaysia with 23-21, 21-13 in the match of 46-minutes.

 

The first game was the battle of rallies, where the bird travelled all over court by the players. Okuhara and Goh exchanged the leads and reached the pinnacle with 20-20 and 21-21. Later the second game witnessed easy win by Okuhara.s
