Unstoppable top seeded Aakarshi Kashyap of Nagpur reaches the pre-quarters in Girl’s Singles at the All India Junior Ranking Tournament 2018 in Tirupur on Thursday.
Kashyap, who has best wins of 32 on the global platform, led tough battle against Kaivalya Lakshmi Yadavalli in the opening-round match, before emerging as winner. Kashyap outplayed Kaivalya with 21-17, 14-21, 21-12, followed by thrashing Ananya Praveen with 21-8, 21-10 in the second round.
The second seeded Purva Barve of Girl’s Singles made an early exit from the tournament as she lost to Smit Toshniwal with 10-21, 21-15, 14-21 in the first round.
In Boy's Singles match, Aman defeated Anay Shirpurkar with 21-18, 21-15 in the opening round, but had to struggle to get past Monimughda Rajkonwar with 21-12, 25-23 in the following round.
While, second seed Alap Mishra entered pre-quarters of the junior ranking tournament with an ease ousting Yovan Dabas with 21-7, 21-18 and Jayant Rana with 21-11, 21-14.
Unfortunately, India’s second ranked BM Rahul Bharadwaj retired from the tournament as he experienced knee injury.
