Gopichand Academy launched at ITMU Raipur backed by Tata Trusts

Raipur just got lucky. Gopichand Academy is all set to open at ITMU Raipur. This will enable the shuttlers in Chhattisgarh to up their game as they have a better platform to practice.

 

The Gopichand Badminton Academy was first founded in Hyderabad, Telangana in 2001 by Ace Badminton player Gopichand Pullela. Now, the same Academy is all set to open at ITM University and was inaugurated on Monday.

 

It will take a year’s time to make it ready for the players to practice. This Academy is first of its kind in the state with a university integrated with professional sports academy. This will pave path for bringing in change by bringing together academics and sports.

 


The “Bhoomi Pujan” event which marks the kick off of the construction was graced by Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh, National Badminton coach of India Pullela Gopichand, junior national coach Sanjay Mishra, international Badminton champions Kidambi Srinath and HS Prannoy, the Vice Chancellor of ITMU, Sanjay Mishra along with Anand Datla, Head of Assessment, Impact and Monitoring Tata Trusts and Neelam Babardesai, Head of Sports Tata Trusts.
