Top seeded Sameer Verma and unseed Gurusaidutt entered Quarter-Finals at the BWF Super 100 Hyderabad Open 2018 on Thursday at the G.M.C Balayogi SATS Indoor Stadium, Gachibowli, Hyderabad.

Sameer defeated his compatriot Kevin Arokia Walter with 21-14, 21-9 in the match of 24 minutes, while Gurusaidutt ousted Daniel S Farid with 21-14, 21-13 in the contest of 31 minutes.

Guru, who stood as an inspiring figure recovering from 900’s to 200’s in the BWF World Rankings, played well throughout the match with the sheer consistency; previously, Guru prone to serious leg injury during 2017 from June to December, due to which there had been a drastic change in the World Rankings.

Guru’s career best was 19 and currently stands at 101 in the World Rankings, and definitely he has a zeal to mark another career best.

Meanwhile, Saurabh Verma lost the compatriot Pratul Joshi in the mettlesome encounter with 21-14, 13-21, 19-21 in the match that lasted for almost an hour.

Starting the game with the slothy show, Saurabh cruised with 11-9 lead by the breather. With the deft shots and crosscourt smashes, in the longest rally post break, Saurabh lost it to Pratul. Saurabh nailed the first game after winning consecutive points.

After switching the sides, Pratul never gave up and put the game to the decider, which was a true neck-to-neck till the end. It could be anyone’s and it was Pratul’s.

In the Quarter-Finals match Sameer Verma will fight against Pratul Joshi on Friday.
