India prevailed over Nepal with the 3-0 win, the first ever South Asian Regional Badminton Tournament (team championship) triumph on December 5th.

India’s way to clinch the title started by Aryaman, the third ranked in U19 India, win over Dipesh Dhami with 21-9, 21-15 in the boy’s singles summit clash, followed by Ashmita Chaliha’s win over Rashila Maharjan with 21-9, 21-6 in the girls’s singles event. Ashmita has been taken by North Eastern Warriors for the upcoming Premier Badminton League season 3.

India’s challenge at the tournament had ended by the boy’s doubles final match. The duo Arintap Dasgupta and Krishna Prasad G defeated Nepalese pair Dipesh Dhami and Nabin Shreshta.

Sanjay Mishra, the Indian junior badminton coach, said, “It was a great performance by the squad and we are happy with the way they played. It was as easy as the results show. Nepal are a good team and I am really happy that the team executed the plans as had discussed.”

The individual championship of the tournament will take the start from December 6th.
