Indonesia Open'18: Indian Beast Prannoy reached the Quarter-finals

The Indian shuttler HS Prannoy has manifested the definition of a fighter entirely as he entered in the quarterfinals. In the second round of the Indonesian Open 2018, for the thrust to clinch the Men's Singles title, HS Prannoy foiled his Taiwanese opponent Wang Tzu Wei with 21-23, 21-15, 21-13.

 

The nation was still celebrating the victory of 3rd seeded Sindhu over Japan’s Aya Ohori, and Prannoy won the second match in a row, which is the Cherry on the Top.

 

The first game was much harder for Prannoy, and his rival was going on a long way. World No 17 lead the game 14-10, which was shortly confined by the Indian shuttler to 13-14 when he smashed the shuttle twice to gain the points. With a cross-court smash, Wang grabbed more points and both the players leveled on 19-19. However, due to a critical error, Prannoy lost the opening game 21-23.

 

It was still an arduous task for Prannoy when his opponent was leading the game, and immense endeavors were vital from the Indian shuttler, to win the game. The entire match became more interesting as Prannoy made a recovery from his loss. Prannoy had a great start in the second game, where he leads 11-8 and extended his lead with a massive difference of five points to 17-12. Prannoy backfires and won the second game 21-15 as Wang repeatedly made two net errors.

 

The decider game added to the excitement of the match. The Indian beast played with boundless aggression and took the lead 10-2. However, Prannoy made multiple errors which were a Golden chance for Wang to get back in the game, but he only gets three points, and the scoreline was 10-5. Prannoy continued to lead the game by 19-13. Wang tried to hit a wide smash but failed and lost points, hence losing the third game to the Indian shuttler Prannoy 21-3.

 

Prannoy will face the Shi Yuqi of China, the current world no. 3 tomorrow in the quarterfinals.
