Kharkiv International 2018 News: Two golds for India in the Doubles

The Kharkiv International Challenge finals 2018 were held in Ukraine on Sunday, where the young Indian badminton players clinched gold medals. The mixed doubles pair of Anoushka Parikh and Saurabh Sharma won the respective title, whereas, the Men’s doubles title was conquered by the duo of Krishna Prasad Garaga and Dhruv Kapila.


The second-seeded pair of Anoushka and Saurabh fought against the duo of Pawel Smilowski and fourth-seeded Magdalena Swierczynska of Poland. They outwitted the Polish duo by 18-21, 21-19, 22-20 in a marathon that lasted for over an hour and became the Kharkiv International Challenge Ukraine 2018 Mixed winners.


In the Men’s Doubles summit clash, Krishna and Dhruv squared off Germany’s pair of Daniel Hess and Johannes Pistorius by 21-19, 21-16. The match lasted for just 36 minutes, where the Indians outclassed the German boys.


On the other hand, the Pair of Ritika Thaker and Simran Singhi lost the Women's Doubles clash in the semi-finals. The top-seeded Mixed doubles pair of Rohan Kapoor and Kuhoo Garg sailed to the quarterfinals but couldn’t move further after losing in the same round.


The cruise of the second-seeded Men’s doubles pair of Rohan and Shivam Sharma, also ended their journey in the mid-way as they lost in the semi-finals.
