India’s para-badminton contingent ended up with 16 medals - one gold, five silver and ten bronze - at the 1st Fazza-Dubai Para Badminton International tournament on Sunday.
Top seeded Manoj Sarkar clinched the gold in an all-Indian finals after compatriot Pramod Bhagat retired in the first game trailing with 6-3 in SL3 category.
World No. 8 Sukant Kadam won silver in the SL4 category after losing the fight against the top seed Lucas Mazur of France with 16-21, 18-21 in the final.
The other three silver medals came in the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 category, mixed doubles WH1-WH2 and women’s doubles SL3-SU5 category.
While in the Men’s Doubles SL3-SL4 finals, Nitesh Kumar of India along with his pair Fredy Setiawan of Indonesia went down fighting against Ukun Rukaendi and Hary Susanto with 21-17, 21-15.

Manasi Joshi, the second seeded, paired with Zehra Baglar of Turkey and went down fighting against Leani Ratri Oktila of Indonesia and Faustine Noel of France with 17-21, 7-21 in the 19-minute summit clash.
