The 2018 Worlds champion Kento Momota of Japan thrashed the Chinese Super Dan aka Lin Dan with 21-8, 21-10 in the Semi-Finals at the BWF Super 700 Japan Open 2018 in Tokyo, Japan.

The third seeded Japanese rose to 11-3 lead with 8-points break towards the breather in the opening game and never looked back, while in the second game Momota stamped the dominance since the beginning, gradually increasing the dominance.

Meanwhile in another court, the seventh seeded Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth lost the battle to the South Korean Lee Dong Keun with 21-19, 16-21, 18-21 in the match that lasted for one hour and nineteen minutes.

Unlike in the opening round, Srikanth failed to grab the stride and started to trail after a 5-5 deficit with 12-5, later managed to reduce the gap with 16-18 before losing. In the decider, the Indian never gave up, but it was not his day.

With this, India ends the good run at the 2018 Japan Open.

In the Women’s Singles discipline, Chen Yufei saved the country’s pride immediate after Lin’s Loss; defeated the world no. 2 Akane Yamaguchi of Japan with 21-13, 15-21, 21-15.

Chen will now either face Carolina Marin of Spain or Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the Semi-Finals match on Saturday.

In another Women’s Singles match, Aya Ohori of Japan beat Gao Fangjie of China with 21-14, 21-12 in the battle of 46-minutes.
